BUG-A-WHO? BUGABOO!

On Thursday the 21nd at 6.30 pm panache stroller brand Bugaboo opened its first store worldwide and PRESTAGE was to to have a ball. With the opening of their own shop, Bugaboo wants to inspire ‘every person on the move’. Why? Because Bugaboo doesn’t think it’s about where you are, but you are going. Or in their case: where you stroll. Apart from their first store opening, Bugaboo also announced an upcoming collaboration with artist Andy Warhol: the world-known American artists, film director and author we all know as a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art.

BUGABOO

At the opening itself one of the invitees was able to win one of the fabulous Andy Warhol strollers themselves. Guess what? PRESTAGE’s fashion director Amber Bosch was the lucky one to win the stroller. The lucky bastard! One of you out there’s able to to win a stroller as well. Come over Saturday, March 23rd to the first Bugaboo brand store and win an all-new, all-terrain Bugaboo Buffalo! All you have to do is take a photo of the Bugaboo Buffalo in the new store and share this through Instagram, Twitter (with #bugaboostore) or facebook.com/bugaboo.nederland. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, March 27th on Facebook.

Lauren van der Kolk, the artist behind the label LDVK concepts, is an all-round creative. She did several studies and nowadays she likes to combine all kinds of disciplines in her work: photography, illustration and design. Since June 2012 she’s been focusing on her project called ‘the lady who sew’.

For this project she makes sketches on paper. When the sketches are finished, she takes her sewing machine and sew the sketches.  The sutures fall outside the passe-partout, which create some exciting images. At this moment you can see her work at Hutspot (Amsterdam) and Wisperring Wall (The Hague). For more information, visit Lauren’s website!

It occurs in places you least expect. Revealing its art in the human body, but also cruelly absent in the presence of deformations and scars. Ashkan Honarvar (1980) depicts an undeniable, unavoidable beauty by accepting the darker sides of human ‘nature’.

Silas & Martine

silas

With ‘While we wait for the sun to come’ Walls Gallery presents it’s first duo exhibition with works of it’s two promising talents Silas and Martine Johanna. The works of Silas are recognizable because of their melancholic sphere and the remarkable use of colour. Silas paints mostly portraits of people and animals, whom he places in surreal surroundings.

The faces are very detailed, in which the big eyes and smooth facial features immediately stand out. Because the artist paints his figures alternately opaque and transparent, different layers arise in the works. Especially for this exhibition, Silas produced twelve new works. Although he remains loyal to his beloved subject, in his new work the artist tries to renew his paintings by searching for a new way to give them a hypnotic radiation. By doing this, he fuses the psychedelic with beauty. With even more eye for detail, characteristic use of colour and the use of different techniques on one canvas, every work has it’s own magic atmosphere.
