A few days ago we went to Mazzo – it was cold, snowy and we just needed some comfy Italian food. Mazzo is located in the Jordaan, the neighborhood in Amsterdam that is known for its cosy cafés and restaurants. It was a thursday evening and the moment we stepped through their big massive front door, we immediately felt the comfort and friendly atmosphere.
Mazzo is a spacey restaurant, but due to all those people who also choose to have dinner here tonight, it feels like an intimate place. A friendly waiter showed us our table and before we could blink our eyes, our table was provided with some delicious bread (with olive oil, just like the Italians do it), red wine and a bottle water. We ordered two antipasti misto for five people (hungry as some wild horses) and it was really good! Vegetables, olives, sausages, cheese, bruchetta’s and some salad. We literally attackted the antipasti, and the best had yet to come. Some pasta’s and pizza’s made us food lovers happy: gamba’s, home made pasta, truffles and of course mozzarella were all over the place. Last but not least, we couldn’t resist a desert. We heard the ‘Torta Della Nonna’ is just perfect, and we couldn’t agree more!
With uncomfortable full bellies but being really satisfied we went home. If you are looking for a cosy place where they serve good, authentic, Italian food, Mazzo is the place to be!
