LAB111

LAB111

Tucked away in Amsterdam’s old-west we found hidden hotspot LAB111. A place where the young and elder creative meet up to dine in a relaxed, laid-back environment. From the outside you’ll easily pass this restaurant, but that’s what makes it even cooler. LAB111 brings us seasonal food in a Mediterranean French style, which is fingerlicking tasty. Apart from the good food, the look and feel of the restaurant are modern and clean, but without being overstyled and with a funny twist as supermarket wallpapered walls.

TURBULENCES II BY LV

Louis Vuitton

Recently PRESTAGE went to Brussels on invite by panache French fashion house Louis Vuitton to visit the opening of the expostition Turbulences II. Vuitton always kept a close relationship with art. This particular interest led to the opening in 2006 of the Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton in Paris and this year (2013) for the fist time in Brussels. At the magnificent Villa Empain in picturesque Brussels The Boghossian Foundation and Louis Vuitton collaborated to open an exhibition which is renewing with modern art that moves and lives created by artists from all over the world, from New York to Tokyo.
 Louis Vuitton

The journey – main theme of the Maison – is the guideline for the exhibitions, which give the opportunity to discover new sceneries and new international artists. In this respect, the Espace culturel Louis Vuitton is giving its visitors an unique artistic adventure. Among the various subjects at the heart of the Espace culturel Louis Vuitton we find: children, music, space discovery and the confusion of senses. The Turbulences exhibition is framed in this context offering not just a simple walk through, but an unique and playful experience. Scrolls of smoke, wakes and washes of ships, turmoil of torrents and waterfalls: it’s all there at the mesmerizing exhibition.

Louis Vuitton

The exhibiton is an experience and it’s a collaboration we love. It’s definitely worth the visit if you are around Brussels and love art. You surely won’t regret it. Get indulged and fly by on the movement The Boghossian Foundation and Louis Vuitton are bringing us.

140 YEARS OF LEVI’S 501

Recently we celebrated Levi’s 140th anniversary of the iconic and always stylish 501 jean. Of course we didn’t have a ball on our own. For this festive celebration Levi’s throw a party completely dominated by the all-time-favourite 501 jean.

LEVIS 501

The 501 jean got quite of a history starting from 1873. Levi Strauss and Nevada tailor Jacob Davis partnered in 1873 on a patent to make the first riveted pockets on pants for working western pioneers by using copper rivets at the points of strain. This became the first iteration of the 501 jean, then called XX. On May 20, 1873, the original patent for using rivets on men’s pants was granted.

LEVIS 501

From then it all started out and an America icon was born. Later on the Rebels of the 1950s proudly wore the 501 jean – adopted from the laborers after the Great Depression – and made it a symbol of irreverence and solidarity. Worn by everyone from all time stylish icons as James Dean and Marlon Brando to Jack Kerouac and Jackson Pollock, the 501 jean became the emblem of youth and a symbol of rebellion. Emerging in Hollywood, style icons begin to embrace 501 jeans after Marilyn Monroe is seen wearing them in the hit film “The Misfits.” Worn throughout the Grunge Movement in the 90s, the 501 jean continues to remain at the forefront of change across generations, becoming a staple in Kurt Cobain’s wardrobe and those of other legendary rock stars. Time Magazine names the 501 jean the “fashion item of the 20th century,” beating out the miniskirt and the little black dress.

JEAN JACKET 501

Today Levi’s jeans are still the first choice of modern pioneers: the artists, musicians, fashion icons, athletes, entrepreneurs, activists, and even presidents who are trail blazing the modern frontier. Trend or no trend, the 501 jean is and will be there ’till the end of time gallivanting all layers of society. No matter if it’s a jean jacket or a jean, the 501 will grow on you. Wear it with pride and make it your own!

Sandton Pillows Brussels

Sandton Pillows by Prestage

After a long day full of business meetings in an unfamiliar city, it is always very pleasant to go to a nice hotel and drop your bags, take a hot shower and have a long night of rest in a comfy king size bed. And that’s exactly what we did last week! We went to Brussels and Peter, the manager from Sandton Pillows, welcomed us at his chique and comfort hotel.

The in 2012 opened four-star Sandton Pillows Brussels is situated on the up-and-coming Place Rouppe, in the heart of Brussels. On first sight, the building makes an imposing impression, but the warm and welcoming ambience embraces you as soon as you walk through the door. This magnificent hotel has 45 comfortable and inviting hotel rooms, 2 conference rooms and an attractive lounge with a bar. Sandton Pillows Brussels meets every expectation of the guest who sets great store by ambience, comfort and personal attention, whether staying for business or for pleasure. Sandton Pillows Brussels lies right at the heart of the city, close to the Grand Place and the Manneken Pis statue, and is just 150 metres from the metro station.

Nice to know: through the entire hotel you can find paintings made by creative artists. That gives you the feeling you are not only visiting a hotel, but also a little exposition. And not to forget: the breakfast was delicious (which is, in our opinion, something worth telling you)!

Visiting Brussel soon or just want to find out more about the hotel? Visit Sandton Pillows’s website!
